Βρετανός στρατηγός ανακοίνωσε ότι επίκειται μεγάλη επιχείρηση εναντίον των Ταλιμπάν στο Αφγανιστάν.
Ο επικεφαλής των ΝΑΤΟϊκών δυνάμεων στην επαρχία του Χελμάντ του Αφγανιστάν, Βρετανός στρατηγός Νικ Κάρτερ, ανακοίνωσε σήμερα, μιλώντας στο BBC, ότι επίκειται μια μεγάλη επίθεση σε αυτήν την «ακυβέρνητη» περιοχή.
Ο Κάρτερ εξήγησε ότι η επίθεση αυτή μπορεί να εξαναγκάσει τους Ταλιμπάν να εγκαταλείψουν τις ζώνες που έχουν υπό τον έλεγχό τους και να ενισχύσει την αφγανική κυβέρνηση στις περιοχές που δεν ελέγχει.
«Εάν θέλουμε να κερδίσουμε για την αφγανική κυβέρνηση, πρέπει να αποκαταστήσουμε την τάξη σε αυτές τις ακυβέρνητες ζώνες», τόνισε ο στρατηγός που έχει τη διοίκηση 45.000 ανδρών στην περιοχή αυτή. Δεν διευκρίνισε πότε αναμένεται να ξεκινήσει η επιχείρηση, σημειώνοντας όμως ότι ο στόχος της θα είναι το κέντρο της επαρχίας, όπου η κυβέρνηση δεν έχει κανέναν έλεγχο εδώ και πολλούς μήνες, αν όχι και χρόνια.
Ερωτώμενος για τον κίνδυνο μεγάλων απωλειών, ο στρατηγός Κάρτερ απάντησε: «Συχνά βρίσκουμε Αφγανούς που δεν πολεμούν αλλά αντιθέτως μας υποδέχονται καλά» . Έφερε μάλιστα ως παράδειγμα μια παρόμοια επιχείρηση που πραγματοποίησαν οι Καναδοί στα δυτικά του Κανταχάρ όπου «δεν έπεσε ούτε ένας πυροβολισμός» .

having been in afghanistan few months ago, i admit that the Alliance does its best to re-establish Afghanistan’ sovereignety.Regretfully, Taliban the last decade have been gaining and strenghening their power and their presence in this land in terms that the populace feel fear of them. Hence, the insurgents in general but the Taliban in particular,predominat the area.
The Alliens,however,carry out such difficult military projects in terms of combined joint ops in close collaboration with the afghanistan ANA ANP, ABP, NDC (security forces) to name but a few. That projects entail to force taliban to move from their present positions and attain peace in the area in the long run.
I am full of enthusiasm for these ops of the Alliance and i Support them all, with all my effort.
